12/5 MS Physics update and homework due 12/12

Hi folks,

Well, today we moved on from Newton's first and second law on to Newton's 3rd Law.

For homework this week, I want you to watch this video   It's a video of amazing people doing amazing (and perhaps ridiculous) stunts.   While you are watching the video, I want you to keep your mind on physics.  There are a ton of great examples of the concepts we've been working on these past few weeks.  I've listed many of the concepts we've been working on below.  What I want you to do is watch the video and list the best examples you can find of these concepts.  Please give a short description of what's happening in the video and why it's a good example of the concept.  I'll do the first one for you to get you going.

 1.  Gravity:

Example: the folks jumping off the building.

It's a good example because gravity pulls them down.  Without gravity they would just sit there in mid-air and it wouldn't be much of a stunt.

2.  Acceleration: (remember, acceleration is CHANGING speed not just going fast or slow)
Example:

It's a good example because

3.  Friction:
Example:

It's a good example because

4.  Velocity:
Example:

It's a good example because

5.  Inertia:
Example:

It's a good example because

6.  Newton's 1st law
Example:

It's a good example because

7.  Newton's 2nd law (Be sure to tell me where to find F, M and A in your example)
Example:

It's a good example because

8.  Newton's 3rd law (Tell me what is pushing/pulling and what is pushing/pulling back.  Ex. The propeller on the airplane is pushing the air backwards which is pushing the plane forwards. Now your turn.)

Example:

It's a good example because
