1/16 MS Physics update and homework due 1/23

Hi folks,


I gave the students a Newton's Scavenger Hunt today where they had to use things in the classroom to illustrate many of the concepts they've learned this year. They really worked well taking their knowledge and applying it in order to show me how each concept worked. I've included the questions below if you want to take a look.

Homework for this week is to find a video game, a movie or a book and use it to provide examples of the following concepts. Feel free to have fun with this and if you can find an example of how physics is "wrong" in the movie, game or book, (cough, cough, the most recent Star Wars)  that may be even more fun!  You can use the same or different books, movies, etc. if you wish.

1. Impulse


2. Momentum


3. Impulse causing a momentum change.


4. Conservation of momentum.


5. Newton's 3rd Law


6. Newton's 2nd Law

2/13 MS Chemistry update and homework due 2/20

Hi folks, Today we really got into energy by discussing the concepts of potential energy, kinetic energy and conservation of energy. For homework this week, read the "Kinetic and Potential Energy" chapter in the book which starts on page 100. Do all the questions on page 108 and 109. We will have a quiz next week so be sure to study this week's and last week's homework. You may also want to make sure you know conservation of momentum as well.
